Summary

The “Bridging Borders in Perinatal Palliative Care” initiative aims to enhance awareness, collaboration, and policy development on Perinatal Palliative Care (PPC) in Ethiopia. Focusing on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 3 and 5 the project addresses critical gaps in PPC, especially in Ethiopia, where only 5% of those in need receive palliative care. The collaboration between Jjmma University – Jimma University Medical Center (JUMC, Ethiopia) and PXL (Belgium) seeks to improve access to PPC through training, infrastructure development, and stakeholder engagement. Key outcomes include standardized PPC protocols, integration into educational curricula, and scalable policy frameworks. The project prioritizes marginalized communities, emphasizing gender equality, sustainable partnerships, and inclusive care. By leveraging shared expertise and fostering systemic change, it aims to create a replicable model for improving PPC delivery in resource-limited settings.
