Summary

The project aims to characterize high-Andean agro-pastoral and forest systems in Ecuador (Cotopaxi, Pichincha) and Peru (Quispicanchi, Acomayo) under the One Health approach, integrating human, animal, and environmental health. It focuses on three dimensions: social (community cohesion and cultural practices), economic (production and market relations of small farmers), and environmental (ancestral practices and climate change adaptation). Targeted rural, mostly indigenous communities face important climate impacts threatening food security and livelihoods. The methodology includes participatory appraisal, mapping, and socio-economic analysis. Expected outputs include methodological guides, ecosystem health maps, policy recommendations, and capacity-building initiatives to promote sustainable, resilient practices.
