Summary

This project is aimed to address challenges with the growing production costs of Asian catfish (Pangasius sp.) farming, which leaves them with a very narrow profit margin, by improving farm-made feed and reducing the feeding cost which takes out 80% of production cost. The project will be divided into 4 working packages (WP) which aims to evaluate suitability of local ingredients for aquaculture feed and develop an improved farm-made diet (WP1), assess the feed efficiency and production performance of newly developed feed (WP2), assess economic feasibility of newly developed feed (WP3), and develop a platform for stakeholders collaboration for future roadmap of Asian catfish development (WP4). The expected outcome of this project is an economically viable farming approach through improved farm-made diets that will benefit small and medium farm holders, improve their livelihoods, and enhance the competitiveness of Indonesian aquaculture.
