Summary

Life Cycle Thinking (LCT) methods like Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Carbon Credit Quantification (CCQ) are gaining traction in Vietnam’s circular economy and SDGs strategies. However, expertise remains limited, as Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) in Vietnam is largely qualitative and site-specific. Our Theory of Change bridges this gap by strengthening research capacity and fostering LCT and SDGs-aligned practices through needs-driven, multi-stakeholder research. The focus is on two key agricultural innovations—low-carbon rice and crop-based bioplastic—critical to Vietnam’s economy. To ensure success and lasting impact, the project integrates strong governance, strategy stakeholder engagement, inclusive communication, and risk mitigation across four work packages. By completion, local researchers, and students will master LCA and CCQ while farmers, businesses, and policymakers will gain actionable insights, unlocking new income opportunities and fostering long-term resilience.
