General objective

To improve the use of scientific evidence in drafting and applying health policies in Guinea based on research results in the areas of health systems, sexual and reproductive health and febrile illness. The programme also strengthens educational capacities and stakeholder collaboration towards policy change.

Summary

The research collaboration with Maferinyah consists of the following areas: health system strengthening aspects such as accessibility, affordability and human resources for health (e.g. for outbreak response), sexual and reproductive health and its linkages with maternal and mental health, and finally febrile illness.

The partnership with the CEA-PCMT centers on the educational capacity for delivering short courses, Master’s and PhD programmes. Students can participate in research activities conducted by Maferinyah, and learn to acquire and practice effective communication and advocacy skills to convince stakeholders to use the available evidence. Both partners work as knowledge brokers and in synergy with other actors towards evidence-based health policies.
