Summary

The overall aim of this project is to contribute to sustainable water management, allocation, and use by investigating and researching the groundwater potential of the project area. The project also will provide scientific evidence and awareness about groundwater use for water supply, irrigation, and livestock production in the rural communities of highlands of Ethiopia, the headwater of Blue Nile. As much maximum as possible data will be collected, analyzed, and interpreted using state-of-the-art techniques for future water management. In this research, the groundwater in heterogeneous hard rock formation and alluvial deposits will be scientifically researched in collaboration with scientific groups from the partner institution following state-of-the-art methods. The research outcomes will be communicated through peer-reviewed papers, seminars, presenting in the international broader scientific community. This project will also strengthen the scientific and research capacity of researchers from BDU and partner institutions.
