Summary

Soil-transmitted helminthiases and schistosomiasis are neglected tropical diseases that affect the poorest communities of sub-Saharan Africa and in particular children. In this project, a new diagnostic technique (SIMPAQ) using microfluidics will be fully developed and validated through field testing in northwest Tanzania to meet all the key requirements of the World Health Organization (WHO. To break the chain of infection the project team will provide health and hygiene education to the children in a multi-stakeholder partnership with Plan International.
