PSP

Summary

Central to this PSP is aid localisation. In many of Belgium’s partner countries, political fragility and instability persist due to central governments lacking legitimacy or capacity. This underscores the urgency to delve into the concept of localisation. Localisation primarily aims to stabilize states and enhance governance where engagement with the central government is unfeasible or during violent transitions.

This project focuses on various dimensions of aid localisation, particularly within the Humanitarian Development and Peace (HDP) Nexus. Conflict and fragility dynamics, along with international support in the Sahel (Burkina Faso, Niger, Mali) and Great Lakes regions (DR Congo, Rwanda, Burundi)  are examined.
