Summary

The starting point of this project is a skeleton dashboard being developed by UGent and Odisee, building on an ongoing partnership between UGent, ITM, and IPK. This system will monitor and analyze the behavior and propagation of dengue in the province of Cienfuegos, Cuba. As the project progresses, user-driven functionalities will be incorporated, supported by evidence obtained from mathematical-computational research provided by the UH, and intertwined with the results of epidemiological studies carried out by the IPK and the Finlay Vaccine Institute (IFV).
Key data are coming from the routine surveillance system, provided by the public health authorities, as such ensuring a robust system for the collection of relevant information. The project will enhance institutional and individual capacities in the domain of infectious diseases and public health. Moreover, by providing policymakers with actionable insights, it will support evidence-based interventions, benefiting vulnerable populations in Cienfuegos while serving as a scalable model for other regions and/or diseases.
