Summary

Epilepsy is a major neurological disorder affecting over 50 million people worldwide, with a particularly high burden in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). In the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), an estimated 500,000 individuals live with epilepsy, yet a significant treatment gap remains. This project aims to enhance epilepsy care in Haut-Katanga by improving the capacity of healthcare providers, increasing public awareness, and establishing an epilepsy registry to support evidence-based decision-making. The initiative seeks to reduce stigma, facilitate earlier diagnosis and treatment, and ensure sustainable epilepsy management frameworks in the region.
