Summary

This project addresses burnout, vicarious trauma, and compassion fatigue among healthcare workers in Uganda, particularly in rural and post-conflict regions. Trauma-informed care (TIC) and self-care training will be co-designed through participatory workshops with healthcare providers, village health teams, and local/national policy and NGO stakeholders. Both TIC and self-care will be emphasized as complementary approaches to enhance resilience, improve compassionate care, and address gender-based violence as a key trauma source. The project explores barriers to TIC and self-care implementation in clinical practice and collaborates to this end with the Ministry of Health. Aligning with SDGs 3, 5, and 10, it strengthens Ugandan health system, promotes gender equity, and improves care for marginalized groups.
